The mirror effect appears even on windows without any film on them. You probably remember a situation where you were walking on the street on a very sunny day, and you were able to see your reflection in the windows of homes, stores, or cars. Or maybe you were sitting inside during the night with bright lights turned on, and when you were looking into the windows you would see your reflection. One-way window films are simply enhancing this already existing effect. In order for the film to do its job properly, you need a light ratio of 1 to 4. That means that the side where you want the mirror effect to occur needs to have 4 times more light than the other one.

The film does not block the light completely like a curtain would do, it just slightly reduces it. But what the film does is to block 99% of the harmful UV rays that are causing sunburns on our skin or causing the furniture and upholstery to fade.

Unfortunately, the privacy effect is lost during the night if the light inside is stronger than that outside. But in most residential areas the outdoor lighting is strong enough to create glare for the privacy effect to be maintained. You can also add some outdoor solar-powered lights to maintain privacy, or just install some blinds or curtains to use at night.

Yes, it can! Whenever you are tired of the film and wish to return to the original state of the window, the frosted film can easily be removed. If you change your mind later on and wish to apply it again, you won’t be able to reuse the same film, but rather get a new one.
