Tinting Chicago today
From the humble beginnings of Mike Skoropad, following his passion for cars, and doing car window tinting jobs part-time, through a one-spot tinting business location in Belmont, it’s been an exciting journey!
And it continues! Today we have three operational tinting shops: at Grand Ave. and Harlem Ave. in Chicago, and a new location in Palatine. All of them offer a full range of our services: auto tinting, auto wrapping, car paint protection film installation, and residential and commercial property tinting and film installation services.
The new Tinting Chicago shop in Palatine aims to bring us closer to our customers in the suburbs, and provide them with everything that we do at our best: car tint, auto wrap installations, PPF application, etc. We are also bringing all the residential and commercial property tinting services along, so our customers in the suburbs can benefit from our offerings like on-site inspection with free on-site consultation and immediate, realistic price quotes from our specialists.
How did it all begin
Mike Skoropad was following his passion for cars well before April 2009, when the auto tinting law in Illinois changed. He was doing small-time car window tinting jobs here and there, after school.
When tinting started gaining popularity in Chicago, Mike seized the business opportunity, got himself an aid, and started a part-time tinting business that he’d engage in after his day job hours were over.
Full-time business in Utires/ Tinting Chicago Belmont location
When Mike Skoropad, Volodymyr Barabakh, and Ivan Strouchilak started to do business together in 2014, the Belmont location was opened. There was a dedicated spot for tinting, the first Tinting Chicago service location, where auto tinting services and later residential and commercial property tinting services were offered to the customers.
Time to grow: The Grand Ave. location opens for business in early 2018
The Belmont location, with only one box dedicated to tinting, was getting too small for the constantly increasing flow of customers, and the workforce, expanded during the Summer of 2017. The Grand Ave location went operational at the beginning of 2018.
The business expanded from the car and residential tinting services, adding car vinyl wrap. The full car wrap services were very well received by the clients.
In the meanwhile, Mike kept his eyes peeled for new business opportunities, and the team kept learning. The workers were taking courses on car paint protection film application, a new service that was offered to the clients. Simultaneously, the fleet graphics part of the business was being developed.
Farewell Belmont, hello Harlem Ave!
The old Belmont joint location was getting too small for the increased client flow of both Utires and Tinting Chicago, and the workforce has already expanded. It was time to move.
The new Harlem Ave. location 3621 N Harlem Ave 773-455-0467 went operational at the beginning of 2020, initially with two tinting boxes, by the end of the year expanded to three, due to the ever-increasing flow of customers.
Managed by in-house talents
The team members, who joined Tinting Chicago during the Summer of 2017, prior to its business expansion in 2018, grew along with the company, becoming new mentors and managers.
Now, Eugene Posobilov and Taras Bilyk are managing the Harlem Ave. location, our new Palatine location is going to be managed and supervised by another one of the dedicated team members, Nazar Demianchuk, who joined TC in 2017.
Alex Belov, who joined TC at the same time as them, became TC’s general manager.
Our Grand Ave. location is managed by Volodymyr Fedosyk, who joined the company in 2020, and is greatly contributing with his attention to detail and dedication.
The number of employees varies depending on the season, 14 at the moment, but during the commercial fleet wrapping season, we employ 22 people.

The new Palatine shop is offering all of our best offers in one place, so the vinyl car wrap, car window tinting, and car paint protection film application will be available at once, performed by our skillful technicians. The full scope of Tinting Chicago commercial, and residential tinting services, along with commercial and fleet graphics services, can be requested by the customers at the Palatine location, too.

How do we choose the products to work with?
To quote Alex Belov, our general manager: “We test all the materials ourselves, on our own cars, and choose based on our own experience, and the experience of our customers. So, we’ll tint and wrap your car with the exact materials we’d use for our own cars. There’s no point in saving 10-20 percent on a no-name Chinese vinyl wrap, go for the best materials, approved by professionals of the industry, like 3M and Rayno, that we use at Tinting Chicago”.
